“Let’s get started because I can’t wait to hear your story.” - Mary Collins
I live in Hampshire with my husband. I have two grown up sons who have now fled the nest, but they continue to make me proud every single day. For me family is absolutely everything.
I love to swim, bake, read, travel and spend time with my family and friends.
I have been working in primary education for the last 15 years. Prior to that, I worked as a tour guide in Europe and the UK. Both of these roles have needed me to be an active listener, putting people at ease with my calm and reassuring manner. These skills combined with my love of words and stories about people will help me to work with you and craft the ceremony that you want.
Why am I a Celebrant?
I became a Celebrant because I recognise the value of honouring and celebrating the rites of passage that form the rich and varied tapestry of our lives. Much of my decision to train as a Celebrant came about through my own life experiences, as is often the way. Firstly, my own wedding, 8 years ago. It was a beautiful day, filled with happiness and laughter, but I still felt that there was something missing. I felt very limited by the restrictions imposed upon us by having a marriage ceremony in a registrar’s office. At the time I had no idea what a Celebrant was, but I now know that a Celebrant-led wedding would have been just perfect for us, unique and personal.
Not every profession can claim such an intimate relationship with stories that provide so much richness to the work being done. We are a lucky tribe, indeed, to be counted among the storytellers of the world. As one author wisely observed,
“You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone’s soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift.” (Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus)
I know that sometimes we can feel a little unsure about taking the first step and getting in touch, I am no different.
Please don't be worried, there is no obligation to take things further. First things first, just like in any good relationship, we need to get to know each other and in doing that, we know if we are right for each other. You will need to feel a connection. It’s as easy as that; that's the first step, no obligation and no charge, we’ll just have a friendly chat!
Let’s get started because I can’t wait to hear your story.
