FUNERALS |
As a professionally trained civil Celebrant, I truly understand the importance of working alongside a bereaved family to help them navigate through one of the most challenging rites of passage that we can ever experience.
In an ideal world, families would write their own tributes for their loved ones, but for the majority of people, it is exactly this moment in time that they need the help and support of a Celebrant.
There is no greater gift that you can give to someone in grief than to ask them about their loved one.... and then really listen.
Personal loss within our family led me to become a Celebrant, I had the great privilege of writing and delivering the eulogy for my dear Aunt's funeral. This cemented my understanding of the importance of crafting a ceremony that truly captures and celebrates the life of someone who quite simply meant everything to us.
Lives well lived, really deserve to have stories well told.

My first step would usually be to arrange a meeting with you and anyone else that you would like to be with you, at a time to suit you.
During our meeting, we will talk about your loved one and I will listen carefully to you and any thoughts and ideas that you may have along with any wishes that may have been expressed by your loved one. This will be my opportunity to offer you some suggestions regarding readings and music as we plan the ceremony. As we talk, I will really want to find out as much as I can about your loved one, their life, their qualities. This will help me to craft their tribute or life story.
After we have met, I will use the information from our conversation to write the ceremony. When I have finished writing, I will send you a draft copy which gives you an opportunity to check for accuracy. It is very important for me to ensure that your personal wishes are reflected in the ceremony. As a professional celebrant, I want to ensure that we have created a ceremony that truly honours your loved one in the most memorable way.
On the day of the funeral, I would generally lead the service. I encourage participation by any family member or close friend, be that music, a reading or a poem, and I will always only be a few steps away to give a helping hand if needed.
After the funeral service, you will receive a keepsake copy of the ceremony.
